National Pairs

Jackie Pearce and Janet Willis had a very successful season.

In the regional competition, having reached the final, the game against Debbie Shadwell & Kathryn Yeoman of Box was delayed from July till September as the Box pairs were due to play in the Fours and Triples on the Wiltshire finals day.

They reached Leamington for the National Pairs competition. Unfortunately, they were beaten in the first round by Derbyshire 26-17. It was a close match until the final few ends when Derbyshire supremacy told.

In the National Wiltshire Pairs final delayed from July which took place at Devizes Bowls Club on Saturday 7th September. Jackie & Janet Willis defeated Debbie Shadwell & Kathryn Yeoman

The match was close with nothing between the 2 pairs until the 10th end when Box scored a 5 to open up a six-shot lead (14-8). The Stratton pair put this bad end behind them and over the next 9 ends slowly got back on level terms 17-17, setting up a two-end shot out. The 20th end proved to be decisive as Stratton scored 5 shots. It was Janet with her 3rd wood who moved Box’s holding shot enabling her final wood to gain the 5th shot. On the 21st and final end Stratton were always in control and gained another 3 shots to run out winners 25-17.
